Advanced stool testing to assess the environment of the digestive tract to get a close and detailed look at what is going on in your gut that may be contributing to your digestive symptoms and discomfort. This test looks at a variety of microbes to assess for imbalance or infections; markers for how well you are digesting proteins, fats, carbohydrates; markers of inflammation in the gut and immune function.

1. Why do this test? Gut trouble sucks! Just because bloating, cramping, constipation, gas are considered “common” doesn’t mean you should just have to live with it. The digestive tract houses over 80% of the immune system, is where many neurotransmitters that affect mood are formed, where hormones are metabolized, nutrients are absorbed etc etc etc. Even if you have learned to live with your gut symptoms, chances are, there are other systems in your body being affected by your gut health that you didn’t think were related (i.e. anxiety/depression, joint pain, rashes, frequently getting sick, brain fog, PMS, hair loss… to name a few)

2. What you will learn:

   • What your normal or commensal microbial status is

   • If you have overgrowth of any pathogenic or potentially pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites

   • How well you are digesting foods

   • Whether there is inflammation in your gut, the likelihood of intestinal permeability (leaky gut)
